Transcending Life's Dualities: A Journey of Selflessness, Divine Wisdom, and True Happiness as Taught by Janav to Thanraj

The Thirukkural, an extraordinary work authored by the Tamil scholar Thiruvalluvar, presents aphorisms on righteousness, wealth, and love, offering guidance on how one should live a noble life. Its teachings remain timeless and continue to guide humanity. The couplet "Irulser Iruvinaiyum Sera Iraivan

Porulser Pugazhpurindar Maattu" (The Supreme Being who has no duality of pain or pleasure, gain or loss, and who is worthy of praise) reflects the path of living in accordance with divine wisdom, transcending the dualities of life—pleasure and pain, gain and loss—and seeking a higher purpose. This couplet emphasizes the need to move beyond life's dualities and seek divine knowledge.

Thanraj – The Confusion of Life

Thanraj, a merchant, was deeply confused due to his wealth and family issues. Despite his riches, he faced opposition from many, and family problems drained his mental peace. "Why, despite having abundant wealth, is there no mental satisfaction?" he asked Janav. Janav taught him that wealth alone does not bring happiness, and that true peace and tranquility come from transcending the dualities of life and living according to divine wisdom.

Arivan – A Selfless Life

Janav took Thanraj to meet Arivan, a farmer who lived a simple life and was always ready to help others. Arivan had no attachment to wealth and lived a selfless life, focusing on serving others. "Serving others is my true happiness," Arivan said. By observing Arivan's life, Thanraj learned to detach himself from material wealth and live a life of selflessness.

Liberation – True Happiness

After embracing Janav's teachings, Thanraj detached himself from his attachment to wealth and began helping the poor. He realized that true happiness comes from transcending the dualities of life—pleasure and pain—and living with divine wisdom. His transformation revealed the truth of Janav's teachings, and he gained respect and peace among the villagers.

Moral

By transcending life's dualities and engaging in selfless actions, living with divine wisdom, one achieves true peace, happiness, and lasting fame.
