How Janav Discovered The Magic Of The World Through Taste, Sight, Touch, Sound, and Smell – A Journey Into The Five Gates Of True Knowledge

Introduction: Janav, the Curious Explorer

Janav is a 5th-grade student in a city school. He always asks “Why?” and “How?” out of curiosity. One day, his teacher, Ms. Punitha, teaches a lesson on the five sensesTaste, Sight, Touch, Sound, and Smell. She says, “It’s through these five senses that we experience the world.”These words stay in Janav’s mind. That day, he decides something: “I want to experience the world deeply using all my five senses!”

1. Sight – The Sky That Opens Through the Eyes

The next morning, Janav goes to the park. Green trees, red roses, blue butterflies, white clouds — everything looks beautiful to him. Suddenly, the world feels wide and bright in his eyes. He says to himself, “I had forgotten how to see. Without sight, I can’t enjoy such beauty!”

2. Sound – The Silent Voice of the World

Later, Janav visits the music room. Tabla, piano, the children’s choir songs — each sound touches his heart. He listens carefully, feeling the music through his ears. It feels like sound is the soul of the world. He thinks, “Without sound, there are no feelings. Sound becomes a language.”

3. Smell – Memories That Fragrance Brings

While returning home, it starts raining. The smell of the wet soil fills his breath. He remembers his grandmother’s house — the smell of her cooking, cumin powder, tulsi leaves… He says, “Smell is the door to my memories!”

4. Taste – Feelings That Speak Through the Tongue

At home, Janav eats his mom’s food — fenugreek curry and curd rice. The taste spreads softly on his tongue. The flavor of the food, the love in it, and the memories of home warm his heart. He thinks, “Taste is not just about food. It carries love and bonding too!”

5. Touch – The Warmth of Life Felt by Skin

Janav gently pets his puppy. Its soft fur gives him joy and calmness. Later, he feels the strong, warm grip of his mother’s hand. He says, “Touch is also a language. It gives safety. It brings closeness.”

Conclusion: The World Spins Within the Five Senses

Janav writes in his notebook:

“I tried to understand the world through books. But today I learned that my real teachers are my eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin. Without the five senses, the world is just a blank circle!” At that moment, he finally understands the Thirukkural his teacher said: “Taste, sight, touch, sound, and smell — The one who understands these five, truly understands the world.”

Moral:

This story teaches us that we don’t understand life only through books. Our five senses are powerful tools. They help us feel, know, and connect with the world deeply.
